There are an awful lot of Christians whose main job seems to be to make themselvesand, by association, other Christianslook bad. This includes loonies of all stripes, as well as those who are merely so self-righteous that they redefine "Christian" to exclude everyone but themselves.
Not that I have anything against Christians per se, mind you: I get along quite well with most of them: those who live a Christian life, rather than preach it; those who lead by example, rather than by intimidation; those who can carry on an intelligent theological discussion that I can learn something from.
This page is not about them. This page is about the vocal minority.

Yet another Westboro Baptist Church site. The same vitriol as the
previous two sites, but aimed at America. Just so you know: God caused the 9/11 bombings, the shuttle Columbia explosion, and evidently George W. Bush invaded Iraq so he could be king of Babylon. Or something. |

Yet another anti-Clinton group. Yawn. Currently, they're burning
O.J. Simpson paraphernalia, and planning protests in front of
courthouses. They also sell "protest kits" for $99.95 apiece. Also, for a mere $34.95, you can buy a video that explains why God made the death penalty the foundation of his justice system. |

The Roman Catholic Church (``the Whore'') is Satan's revival of
the Egyptian cult of Baal. Human sacrifice is on the rise as the millenium approaches.
Satanists put curses on Halloween candy that cause children to
become rebellious: To gain control of children's minds, witches make elaborate incantations calling forth demonic powers to attack these little ones. This and much more, in easy-to-read comic book form! |

This is the page of one Neal Horsley, candidate for the post of
governor of Georgia, in the United States. God has a plan for you, and expressed it in the United States Declaration of Independence. Good people must unite against the teaching of evolution. Homosexuals and abortionists must be shot. The remaining good people should secede from the United States and enforce that secession through the use of nuclear weapons. |
|
| Rock 'N Roll is evil. Christian Rock is a tool of Satan. All translations of the Bible other than the King James Version were inspired by the Devil; read them and die. Oh, and women should be kept barefoot and pregnant. | |
|
A good all-around fundie site, full of fire and brimstone, and
condemnation of all those who do not believe exactly the same
things that the author does. Country line dancing is evil. So is country music in general. Catholicism is nothing more than Satanism in disguise. So is Wicca. Martin Luther King, Jr. wasn't a Christian.
Christmas is NOT of God. It is abomination to Him.Oh, and Easter is a bogus holiday cooked up by those nasty Catholics. In addition, this site advocates Geocentricity and condemns the Theory of Evolution. |

Reviews of all your favorite movies, with individual ratings for
Wanton violence, Impudence/hate, Sex/homosexuality, Drugs/alcohol,
Offense to God and Murder/suicide (WISDOM). Plus listings of all
of the offensive things in each movie, such as (from
Lassie):
The movie included unacceptable material such as a child slamming things, facially showing hatred for his father, and saying "Why don't we just kill ourselves" in response to things beyond the child's control, thus fueling and perpetuating the general lack of coping skills of youth. They are much more critical of movies like The Matrix and South Park. |

A book by Marshall Hall, defending geocentrism.
Mathematics have been invented specifically to uphold Copernicanism. There is no real evidence that the Earth moves. |
|
| No introduction necessary, I think. | |
|
Lots of articles on lots of topics. Equal parts of spectacular
misinformation, flaming self-righteousness, and hate-mongering.
Women should not teach. Psychology is anti-Christian. Alcoholics Anonymous is an occult organization. |
|

A lot of the usual stuff, with an amateurish, 1980s look:
homosexuality is a choice, women who get abortions tend to have
them by the dozen, and by implication, faith is more important
than using one's brain. This is an extension of Coral Ridge Ministries, the group that recently (May 1999) broadcast anti-gay ads with the slogan "It's not about hate, it's about hope." |

The most interesting feature at this site is
false-color Hubble images
that are supposed to be photos of Jesus, Mary, the eye of God, and
who knows what else. The rest of the site consists of moderatly amusing proofs of the existence of God and the infallibility of the bible, mostly through copious amounts of wishful thinking and circular reasoning. |
|
| Pictures of clouds and such that look like, well, clouds and such. But they're supposed to be pictures of Jesus, Mary, and angels. I'm surprised that no one has submitted any Rorschach inkblots. | |

Society for the Practical Establishment and Perpetuation of the TEN COMMANDMENTS |
Here's a sample of what you'll find there:
DEMOCRACY ORIGINATED IN THE MIND OF A RATIONAL BEING WHO HAS THE DEEPEST HATRED FOR GOD.
Blacks have never understood how blessed it is to be outcasts in the american society. It is atheists who are responsible for all the violence in the movie industry. It is atheists who are responsible for all the smut on the web. The constitution, particularly the first amendment, in essence states that male citizens have the so-called "right" and "freedom" to think, speak and act in ways opposite to their God-given and thus rightful role as males; and female have the so-called "right" and "freedom" to think, speak and act in ways opposite to their God-given and thus rightful role as females. In no way does the constitution encourage faithfulness to your rightful gender, but strongly discourages it by virtue of its most poisonous concepts of "rights" and "freedoms."And much, much more! |

The person who set up this page appears to believe in literal
demons, and to cast them out on a regular basis. Oh, and you may want to turn the sound off: The MIDI file "Oh The Blood Of Jesus"plays continuously on every page. Your demons hate to hear this midi. Here are a few of the things he's against, or claims that are caused by demons: |

White supremacists:
WE BELIEVE the White, Anglo-Saxon, Germanic and kindred people to be God's true, literal Children of Israel.I may be mistaken, but I didn't think the population of Israel and neighboring lands had a high percentage of Anglo-Saxons or Germans. Be sure to stop by the Special Items page, where you can buy a spanking stick, imprinted with scripture verses. Need a job? They're looking for a white lady. Jews and government agents need not apply. |
|
| Every bad thing in the world was caused by the Catholics: the Kennedy assassination, the theory of Evolution, the fact that Ireland isn't part of Scotland, etc. | |
|
I resisted adding Pat Robertson for a long time, since he isn't
quite as extreme as some of the other people and organizations on
this page. His
comments on the Sep. 11, 2001 bombing of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon
finally convinced me to add him.
Then, we say, "Why does this happen?" It is happening because God Almighty is lifting His protection from us. |
|
| The Harry Potter books are not just harmless fantasy. They make magic and the occult seem appealing, even though occult powers come from Satan. | |
| What could be better than biblical literalism and numerology? Biblical literalism, geometry, and pyramidology, of course! This person has somehow managed to combine the days of creation, the ages of people in Genesis, and the dimensions of the great pyramid of Giza into a single incomprehensible unified whole. | |
| This site is a mixture of Christian fundamentalism, New Age mysticism, and rejected "X-Files" scripts. This person apparently believes that supernova SN1987A is God's pineal gland, and that the story of God forming Eve from Adam's rib is an allegory for atomic fission, based on the fact that in modern American English, "atom" and "Adam" sound almost alike. | |
CreationistsI hold a special place in my heart (or maybe a few inches further down) for Creationists. Actually, I should call them Anti-Evolutionists, since they're not interested in (or capable of) demonstrating the literal truth of Genesis, but rather, simply want to argue against a scientific theory that they find offensive for some reason.
|
|
| The ICR is the largest Creationist organization in the United States today. Although it is nominally a research institute, the ICR requires each researcher to sign a ``statement of faith'' that effectively guarantees that the researcher's conclusions will match the ICR's preconceptions. | |

Kent Hovind tours the United States giving lectures about
"Creation, Evolution, and Dinosaurs." This web site has his entire seminar in RealAudio and MP3 format. Listen to it. It's a hoot! Did you know...
|
|
| Ed Conrad has a bunch of rocks, a truckload of chutzpah, and more paranoia than you would believe. He is well known to readers of talk.origins for insisting that his rocks are actually fossilized human remains, and slandering the entire scientific community in the process. | |
This page caught my eye because right off the bat, it promises
Scientific evidence supporting the Biblical account of Creation. Then, of course, the author forgets all about this. He does, however, tackle some of the harder questions, such as:
|
|
|
No real support for creation, of course, but a lot of
anti-evolution arguments in easy-to-swallow, I-don't-wanna-think
form. I particularly like the section, Pests and germs do not evolve resistance to poisons and antibiotics!, which boils down to "That's not evolution! That's just allele frequency change over time!" |
|
This person is selling a poster entitled "Evidence for Creation
and a Young Earth." As you may have come to expect, it has no
evidence for creation, but rather a lot of arguments
against evolution, mainstream geology and cosmology, etc.
My favorite is the "Spinning Planets" argument:
If the universe began with a "big bang," all the planets would spin in the same direction. Venus and Uranus do not! |
